Golf Carts
The city now allows Golf Carts to ride on municipal
streets with the exception of VanBuren Street between 2nd Street
and 16th Street, and except Main Street, 10th Street
and those portions of the following streets which lay North of Jackson
Street, namely: 2nd – 15th Street.
In order to ride your golf cart you must obey all
street signs and the speed limit, plus be in compliance with the new
Illinois State Statue (625 ILCS 5/11-1426.1) The guidelines are listed
below for your convenience.

Illinois State Statue Guidelines
Prior to riding a golf cart on the streets you
must meet the following guidelines set by the State of Illinois: the driver
must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and the non-highway
vehicle must have brakes, steering apparatus, tires, a rearview mirror, red
reflectorized warning devices on the front and rear, a slow moving emblem
on the rear, headlight that emits a white light visible from a distance of
500 feet to the front, a tail lamp that emits a red light visible from at
least 100 feet from the rear, brake lights, and turn signals.
